Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC),headquartered in Shanghai with a branch office in Beijing, is a public institution directly under the administration of the Ministry of Finance, China. The AFDC was an initiative proposed by China under the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting to strengthen capacity building in the region through training workshop, forums and academic research. In 2004, Chinese President Hu Jintao announced that, the Chinese government would establish the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC), in order to continue China's contribution to institutional capacity building in the Asia-Pacific region.
