Overview

sa logo comboThe CLEAR South Asia Regional Centre is hosted by the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South Asia at Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Chennai since May 2011. Its work in Pakistan is led by the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) based in Lahore and it works closely in Bangladesh with the Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Bangladesh.

 

Guiding Principles

  • Two pronged approach to build demand and supply for high quality evaluations
  • Engagement and assistance for government and civil society at national and state levels
  • Targeting decision-makers at the highest levels as well as institutions and systems at the grassroots level
  • Emphasis on the use of technology for more effective collection and utilization of M&E
  • Support for the creation of knowledge, communication and networks in the evaluation community


Key Objectives

  • Building a culture of evidence based decision-making and strengthening demand among policymakers and practitioners for high quality evaluations
  • Strengthening M&E systems and practices for strategic clients
  • Building better evaluation understanding and skills of M&E practitioners, program implementers, and donors
  • Building local researcher expertise and institutionalising M&E in the formal education system
  • Strengthening regional M&E networks and building the field of evaluation in South Asia
