Co-creating a 3-year National Evaluation Plan (NEP): Botswana

CLEAR-AA collaborated with the UNICEF Botswana country office, the National Strategy Office of the Government of Botswana, and other ministries to co-develop the 3-year National Evaluation Plan (NEP). This inaugural NEP is anticipated to kick-start a culture of rolling 3-year NEPs that are aligned to national development plans as developed by the Government of the Republic of Botswana.  

The NEP is one of the key evaluation frameworks through which the Government of Botswana incrementally builds an evaluative culture in the public sector, thereby strengthening the national monitoring and evaluation system even further. Crucially, the NEP places emphasis on the use of evaluation findings to inform government decision-making on matters relating to program and policymaking, budgeting, development planning, and program implementation and design.
