M&E Roundtable Series # 8 Understanding and Measuring Women’s Empowerment

CLEAR South Asia in collaboration with the Community of Evaluators (CoE) and UNWomen organised the 8th M&E Roundtable on Gender, Evaluation and Empowerment: Understanding and Measuring Women’s Empowerment on November 26, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lecture Room I, India International Centre (IIC) Annex Building.

This Roundtable was the first in a series of discussions on ‘Gender, Evaluation and Empowerment’ which featured key gender and M&E experts in South Asia, highlighting the challenges in defining and measuring gender and providing insights to new and innovative gender measures, which can be applied both within South Asia and globally. The roundtables aim to draw upon several disciplines, backgrounds, and research methodologies, creating a forum for researchers, M&E professionals, and civil society organizations working on issues of gender and female empowerment.The roundtable on ‘Understanding and Measuring Women’s Empowerment’ featured presentations by key experts in gender and evaluation research including Shreyasi Jha, M&E Specialist, UN Women and Priya Nanda, Group Director for Reproductive Health and Economic Development, ICRW. This was followed by a Q&A session and greater discussion among participants.
