M&E Roundtable Series # 9 Defining and Measuring Women’s Empowerment: The South Asian Context

CLEAR South Asia in collaboration with the Community of Evaluators (CoE) and UN Women organised the 9th roundtable in the M&E series and the second in the Gender, Evaluation and Empowerment series on “Defining and Measuring Women’s Empowerment: The South Asia Context” on February 13, 2014.

The roundtable focused on the specific challenges of defining and measuring women’s empowerment in South Asia, as well as highlighted innovative tools to conceptualize and capture this challenging concept. Dr Tarun Jain of Indian School of Business and Dr Charity Troyer Moore, of Harvard Kennedy School presented on quantitative methods on measuring Women’s empowerment and focused on their ongoing evaluation projects and Urvashi Wattal from the Community of Evaluators (CoE) presented on the qualitative aspects of measuring empowerment. Katherine Hay of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation led the discussion.
